American Fast-Food Giant Wendy’s Eyes Expansion in the MENA Region

Alghanim Industries and Wendy’s has stated strategic plans for the growth of the US fast-food chain in the Middle East and North African region.

There will be four new stores opening across the United Arab Emirates. These new stores will be opening in the Dubai Mall, Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi, Nakheel Mall on the Palm Jumeirah, and the Jumeirah Beach Road.

A statement said that these four stores are strategically located in high foot traffic areas.

Wendy’s was founded on 15th November, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio by Dave Thomas. It is an American International fast food restaurant chain. The company on 29th January, 2006 moved its headquarters to Dublin, Ohio. Wendy’s was the third largest hamburger fast food chain with 6,500+ locations as of 2016, following Burger King and McDonald’s.

 

So far, the Jumeirah Beach Road restaurant will be the largest opening in the United Arab Emirates with seating for 70 diners indoors and a further 16 on the balcony overlooking Jumeirah Beach Road. With the options of a drive-thru and delivery available, Wendy’s Jumeirah will be open 24 hours a day.

A statement said that the plans for expansion will continue with the opening of 3 further restaurants within prominent malls in the United Arab Emirates.

The vice president of F&B at Alghanum Industries, Phil Broad said that it is a hugely exciting time for Wendy’s, with the opening of their four new restaurants in the UAE this year. He added that the building of the flagship Jumeirah restaurant marks a new era in the Emirates with their largest opening in the United Arab Emirates to date.

In addition to Alghanim Industries’ flagship store opened in Kuwait in 2016 at Blajat Street, the company opened stores at three other locations in 2017 in The Avenues, Fahaheel and Marina Mall.

The statement said that the company will continue to open more stores this year, and the first being in the new Kout Mall.

Alghanim Industries is a company based in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The company owns and operates over 30 businesses in 40 countries across the MENA region, India, Turkey, and South East Asia. The company’s growing portfolio of 300 brands includes a number of United States partners including Ford, Mars, General Motors, Whirlpool, American Express, and now Wendy’s.
