Benefits of using the Right hand over the Left hand

Asalamu Alaikum. All praises and thanks belong to Allah (SWT), Lord of the Worlds and Master of the Day of Judgement. It is He (SWT), who has made clear right from wrong, and sent us the Messenger Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him), to teach us righteousness. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
“There is no compulsion in religion; truly the right way has become clearly distinct from error; therefore, whoever disbelieves in the Shaitan and believes in Allah he indeed has laid hold on the firmest handle, which shall not break off, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.” [Al Baqarah 2:256] The Islamic ruling concerning the use of the right or left hand is clear. It is established that anything that has to do with honor and nobility, for example, putting on one’s clothing and jeans and shoes, entering the mosque, utilizing the siwaak, putting on kohl, cutting the nails, trimming the moustache, brushing the hair, culling the armpit hair, shaving the head, saying salaam toward the end of prayer, washing the body parts while performing ablution, leaving the can, eating and drinking, shaking hands, touching the Black Stone, and so forth are all things which it is mustahabb to begin on the right or utilize the right hand. With respect to things which are the inverse, for example, entering the latrine, leaving the mosque, cleaning out one’s nose, cleaning oneself in the wake of utilizing the toilet, removing one’s article of clothing, jeans and shoes, et cetera, it is mustahabb to begin on the left or utilize the left hand. The greater part of that is on account of the right hand is more respectable and regarded.
It is narrated that ‘Umar ibn Salamah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O young boy, say the name of Allaah and eat with your right hand, and eat from what is nearest to you.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari
In Saheeh Muslim, it is narrated that a man ate with his left hand in the presence of the Messenger of Allaah (SAW). He said: “Eat with your right hand.” He said: I cannot. He said: “May you never be able to,” for nothing was preventing him from doing so but arrogance. And he never raised it to his mouth again.
Muslim narrated that Salmaan (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: He (meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade any one of us to clean himself with his right hand.
And Muslim narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No one among you should eat with his left hand or drink with it, for the shaytaan eats with his left hand and drinks with it.”
Of course this rule only applies to those who are able to fulfil it. But if you are not able to do so, due to some ailment or injury, then there is no sin against you. [Al-Nawawi said in Sharh Muslim] In summary, scholars have given the following reasons for preference of the use of right hand over the left:
1. It distinguishes us from the shaitan
2. It is a sign of respect to use a clean hand for greeting people or eating food, and using a different one for using the toilet or touching impurities.
3. It gives us hope that Allah will make us from among the people of the right hand (ahl al-yameen)
May Allah rectify our ways. Amin.
