Divine Extracts Relating to Swearing

Islam considers ignorance, especially of Islam, a sort of sin for its believers; Muslims are required by Islam to seek knowledge of Islam which is viewed as a form of worship and therefore, a good deed. So do a good deed by reading these Qu’ranic excerpts.

And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity – to disunite the Believers – and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars. (Surah At-Tawba, 107)

They swear by Allah that they are indeed of you; but they are not of you: yet they are afraid (to appear in their true colours). (Surah At-Tawba, 56)

To you they swear by Allah. In order to please you: But it is more fitting that they should please Allah and His Messenger, if they are Believers. (Surah At-Tawba, 62)

They will swear unto you, that ye may be pleased with them but if ye are pleased with them, Allah is not pleased with those who disobey. (Surah At-Tawba, 96)

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah that Allah will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realise it not. (Surah An-Nahl, 38)

So verily I call to witness the planets – that recede, (Surah At-Takwir, 15)

They swear their strongest oaths by Allah that, if only thou wouldst command them, they would leave (their homes).Say: “Swear ye not; Obedience is (more) reasonable; verily, Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.” (Surah An-Nur, 53)

So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; (Surah Al-Inshiqaq, 16)

They swore their strongest oaths by Allah that if a warner came to them, they would follow his guidance better than any (other) of the Peoples: But when a warner came to them, it has only increased their flight (from righteousness),- (Surah Fatir, 42)

I do call to witness this City;- (Surah Al-Balad, 1)

Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,- (Surah Al-Waqi‘a, 75)

And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,- (Surah Al-Waqi‘a, 76)

Turnest thou not thy attention to those who turn (in friendship) to such as have the Wrath of Allah upon them? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to falsehood knowingly. (Surah Al-Mujadala, 14)

One day will Allah raise them all up (for Judgment): then will they swear to Him as they swear to you: And they think that they have something (to stand upon). No, indeed! They are but liars! (Surah Al-Mujadala, 18)

So I do call to witness what ye see, (Surah Al-Haqqa, 38)

Now I do call to witness the Lord of all points in the East and the West that We can certainly- (Surah Al-Ma‘arij, 40)
