If you believe in God, then you must believe in Satan’s existence – and if you believe that Satan exists, then there must be a God right?
Let me give you a scenario; you may have had something called a close call. This is when someone knows in their heart that they were supposed to be in THAT burning building or THAT car crash. However something unexpected delays their catching that wrecked train, capsized boat or going into that burning building. Some people are saved by a bad feeling (intuition/sixth-sense) about something. Others have déjà vu that I believe to be true dreams or visions. All these things are not coincidences; they are SIGNS from Allah SWT to bring you closer to Him. The next step is to recognize these signs as they manifest and then be grateful for them.
No one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land.
On the parallel, Iblis (satan) also shows himself in the most obvious cases. For some people it could be sleep paralysis right before Fajr prayer. Others have nightmares. Some people see jinns but they are almost always considered crazy. Look at what is happening right now to the Rohingya people. Or what has happened in Rwanda, Sudan or Syria and other countries. If only a veil could be lifted and we could see Iblis and his troops at work, whispering in everyone’s ear- what a scary sight that would be. But Allah knows best. The people who are victims of these senseless killings would be the first to tell you that “I came face to face with evil”. Take Freetown or Liberia for instance, I have seen documentaries of little boys cutting out the hearts of other human beings and eating them raw – they claim it makes them invincible. If that isn’t pure evil then what is?
And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.
One needs to recognize the cunning tricks of Satan. There is conflict within religions, between religions, between races, within races (ethnicity), between genders, between nations, between brothers, between step-brothers, between neighbors and so on and so forth. If conflict was a business then it will be the most profitable – and it is. Firstly, Iblis is happy with the people that do not believe he exists. Once you are oblivious to that fact then it is easier for him to influence you. Either you don’t believe in something you cannot see, or you are afraid of the thought of it; however Allah SWT mentions is surat Jinn:
Say, [O Muhammad], “It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, ‘Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’an.
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.
And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass.”
In summary, you can see that Allah SWT is telling His creation that there are good jins and bad jins, however they are no match for Him! So fear not! Believe and trust in Allah SWT and you will be protected and guided when you read the Qur’an consistently and follow the Sunnah.
So how do we protect ourselves from Satan? How do we defend ourselves or even counter him by dodging attacks and landing our own blows? By doing good deeds alone and staying from his evil plans?
