Having full control over your working hours is a shared dream the 9-to5 workers have in common. People stuck in their jobs often wish they had the power to earn money upon translating their passion into a business. Hanita Muthray is not your average 9-to-5 worker. As young individual, she always had a passion for wellness has found a new mission through the creation of a successful company, Nt Shonalanga Valley Resort, which offers the best spa and wellness experience for clients

What kind of services does your company render?

We are a South African function venue catering for events ranging from Weddings, Corporate Conferences, Team-building and Private Parties. The venue also has 15 chalets that can sleep 30pax sharing. Our latest addition to the lodge is the Wellness Centre and Spa, where the focus is on stress relief. The spa offers treatments that were designed along Ayurvedic principles (Ancient Eastern principles of Wellness). Our signature treatments include the Shirodara (a specialised head treatment), the deep tissue massages, child wellness, and yoga therapy.

What motivated you launch your own company?

My parents were business people and so were my grandparents on my mother’s side. And although I was encouraged to study and get a profession, I am a qualified Physiotherapist, I joined my father when he started his business in the hospitality space. I loved working in this space and found myself wanting to learn more and more. So I now work full-time in the business and part-time in my own practice.

What makes your services stand out from the rest?

Our venue offers our clients a place where they can “SWITCH OFF”, unleash their creativity and be inspired by nature. The venue, situated conveniently just 30 minutes from the major CBD of Centurion, Tshwane, Fourways and Midrand, is out in the countryside and free from noise pollution. Our packages are tailored to suit the needs of our clients with affordable pricing, quality food and excellent service and planning ideas.

Our Wellness Centre and Spa has been designed using my physiotherapy knowledge and the expertise of an Ayurvedic doctor from India. The treatments are specialised but affordable. The spa itself is modern and was designed to allow the energy to flow freely through the space.

How did you choose your team?

I did not choose my team, they chose me. They are all from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and initially their main mission was to put food on their tables. Now we are committed not only to the growth of the business but to individual growth and upliftment.
Most of them have been with the company for more than 8 years.
