Scheduled to open this week, is a new pedestrian bridge which connects Ibn Battuta Mall with the Dubai Metro.
The 210 metre walkway is set up to boost footfall numbers at the shopping complex, which mainly provides residents in or around Discovery gardens and Jabel Ali.
This new bridge will be opened by Ali Rashid Lootah (Nakheel Chairman) this Thursday 24th November, 2016. It would also be home to 90 shops and dining outlets.
This development is a key element on the expansionary work on Ibn Battuta (which is envisioned to turn into a “sprawling retail entertainment and leisure destination spanning 7 million sq ft”.
The footfall numbers are expected to increase during the holiday seasons. It will be a time in which a lot of festive will occur and hopefully a total number of 20 million visitors will be attracted.
“The Metro link is a natural progression for Ibn Battuta that will inspire more even more visitors to discover its stunning architecture, intriguing history and retail offering – and encourage those who would normally drive to use public transport instead” Rebecca Rees, spokesperson for Nakheel said in an email interview.
The mall would also have a total leasable area expand to 1.3 million sq feet and the size is expected to expand as a result of the subsequent opening to 4.7 million and would include a shop space of 770,000 sq ft.
