Refuting the claim of those who reject the Hadith and Sunnah

One day, as I was reading some Islamic articles online, I stumbled upon a website that shocked me. On this website, they preached against the hadith, claiming that the holy Quran is the only true source of information a Muslim must adhere to. In order words, a Muslim must throw away the hadith and take reference to only the Quran, and if the Quran is not clear about something, then we should choose to remain in the dark. I couldn’t help but wonder; how could anyone possibly refute the hadith and Sunnah when the Quran in numerous occasions says: Obey the Messenger. Now let’s get this clear, the Quran is the word of God. So by following the Quran, we are surely obeying Allah. But when Allah again adds that we ought to obey the Messenger (peace be upon him), it means in addition to the holy Quran, we must follow the teachings of the Messenger Muhammed (pbuh).
Allah says in the Quran in Chapter 5: 92- Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and beware (of evil): if ye do turn back, know that it is our Messenger’s duty to proclaim (the Message) in the clearest manner.
You notice here Allah says obey Him (SWT), and obey the Messenger (pbuh). If you are a true believer of the Quran, this is enough prove for you to wholeheartedly follow the hadith and Sunnah. If this verse is not enough, then what about this one?
Chapter 4:59- O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day; that is best, and most suitable for final determination.
Again in Chapter 4:13- And whomsoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, Allah shall admit him in the Gardens underneath which rivers flow.
Yet again in Chapter 24:54- ………If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance.
But despite these clear verses, a sect continues to grow astray. Please be careful. Watch out for these types of Muslims; Muslims who tend to deviate from the ways of the Prophet (pbuh), deviate from the ways of the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) and deviate from the teachings of the rightly guided scholars. Let every true believer keep these statements in mind. They are not my words, but the words of our Lord Most High:
Quran 4:80- He who obeys the Messenger thereby obeys Allah; as for he who turns away, We have not sent you as a keeper over them!
Quran 4:65- But no, by your Lord, they can have no faith until they make you [Muhammed] as a judge between them in all their disputes, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept with full submission [Islam].
Quran 33:36- “It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in plain error.”
Hence, the Holy Quran has made clear the truth from falsehood. And stands as witness against the false claim of the sects who have disputed the hadith and the Sunnah. Those who would remain blind and arrogant, will remain blind and arrogant. For as Allah says in the Quran, “it is not the eyes that go blind, but the hearts”. Allah is the one who guides, may He (swt) guide us all to the truth. Ameen.
