Young business leaders in the Arab world and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were recently honored by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders.
The award honors young and exceptional business leaders in the Arab world. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai presented the awards to the winners.
The Crown Prince also honored bodies, initiatives and programs throughout the Arab world that support entrepreneurship. The winners in this category included Bader Technology Incubator Initiative in Saudi Arabia, Bank of Misr (Egypt), Zain Innovation Campus in Jordan, Polytechnic University in Palestine and the Bread for Education Initiative in Jordan.
The best Businesswoman award for 2017 was claimed by Dr Shaima Nawaf from the UAE and the best Businessman of 2017 award went to Obaid Bin Tog Al Merri.
The best Arab personality for supporting entrepreneurship went to Shaikha Budoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
The Crown Prince of Dubai congratulated the winners and wished them more success in their persistent support for the youths of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Arab world. He said such support for the youths will help them develop their Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) thus making them better poised to contribute more productively to the national economies of the Arab nations and the region as a whole.
Shaikh Hamdan added that this would create more opportunities for the upcoming generations and help secure a brighter future for the entire region.
Government bodies and individuals who supported the youths in their SME endeavors through government procurement programs were honored by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group.
The winners in this category included the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Statistics Centre, Dubai Holding, Dubai Health Authority, Emirates Flight Catering, the Shaikh Zayed Housing Program, UAE University, Dubai Police’s Punitive and Correctional Establishments among others.
Dubai Municipality was honored by Shaikh Ahmad as the best government body in regards to supporting youths in the UAE, while Ebrahim Al Zarouni was named the best employee in the same category.
Awards to youth-run SMEs were given by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation.
In the industries category, Emirati Jengan Industries Establishments emerged winners; Feathers Fashion won in the trade sector, and the Emirati Bait Al Kandora Gents Tailoring were crowned winners in the clothing category.
