The month of Ramadan is also the month of the Holy Quran. One of the acts strongly encouraged in this month is strengthening our relationship with the Quran by reading through its glorious pages as much as we can. The glorious Quran is believed to have been revealed in this month and reciting it doesn’t only bring you closer to your creator but also boosts your understanding of the book, purifies your heart, earns you reward, mercy and many importance too numerous to mention.
So if you are seeking to strengthen your ties with the Quran this Ramadan season below are tips you might find useful;
#1.Check your heart, before you touch it
For you wish to communicate effectively with the Quran you must vet yourself thoroughly, make your goals and intention clear, try to relieve your mind of all pressures and thoughts and read with the sole intention of uplifting yourself with the knowledge of the Quran and solely for Allah’s sake.
Remember the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was described by his wife as a “walking Quran”: In other words, he lived the holy Quran.
Performing ablution is simply purifying oneself as the book of Allah is pure and also doing this will go a long way in helping you prepare yourself physically and mentally towards communicating and understanding the words of the Quran effectively.
#3.Read at least 5 minutes every day
This is basically a beginner’s technique to programming yourself to getting used to reading the Quran on daily basis. Its won’t be easy to start or to want to build an effective communication with the Quran and expect to spend long hours every day. But starting off with sizeable durations daily, you can subsequently adjust your duration and this will be the best way to go about it, Insha Allah.
#4.Ensure to understand what you have read
Building a communication with the Quran doesn’t mean cramming its verses and chapters alone but also understanding what the Quran is saying who it is talking to. The Quran is intellectually amazingly interactive as it speaks to you directly providing answers to the situation which you are currently in and clarifying your thoughts. So you need to pay attention while you recite.
#5.Listen as you recite
You can understand what the Quran is saying if you don’t listen. It’s Sunnah to read aloud but not too loud as to disturb the person sitting next to you. It is also very important to listen to the words and follow it verse-by-verse as you recite.
It is Sunnah to make supplication before commencing recitation as well as upon concluding your daily recitation schedules. This is because we are never above mistakes, and for places where we make such mistakes while reciting, we seek for Allah’s forgiveness and pray that he enables us to understand and apply his blessed words.
It is the month of blessings and bounty and as such, it is enjoined upon us to do as much as good as we can during this holy month. And part of this constant recitation of the Noble Quran, understanding and putting its lessons to practice. May Allah (SWT) grant us the ability to read and be walking Quran as the prophet Muhammad (SAW) was, Amin!
