Popular Muslim Singers You Should Know

Singing is a gift, and only some from amongst us are born with this unique ability. Let’s take a look at popular Muslim artist from around the globe.

#1. Sami Yusuf

Sami Yusuf

A British singer of Iranian Azerbaijani descent who is also a songwriter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist musician. Yusuf is one of the most popular Muslim singers and he calls his genre of music “Spiritique”. He has released several albums since the age of 23 and has earned numerous awards and recognition ranging from BBC’s Most Influential Muslims in 2009 to Doctors of Letters award from University of Roehampton. He is also engaged in a lot of charity work.

#2. Maher Zain

 Maher Zain

A Swedish R&B singer, songwriter, music producer and philanthropist. He was born 16 July, 1981 and is of Lebanese origin. Zain is one of the most popular Islamic singers with more Facebook fans than any other Muslim artist. He has released various albums and won multiple awards including Best Religious Song on Nogoum FM and Muslim Star of 2011.

#3. Yusuf Islam

Yusuf Islam

Popularly known as Cat Stevens is a British songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, humanitarian and education philanthropist. . He converted to Islam in 1977 and confessed that it was the Adhan (Muslim’s call to prayer), that first intrigued him. He also claimed that while reading the Quran, he was immensely inspired by the story of Prophet Yusuf. Henceforth, he began making Islamic music.

#4. Hamza Robertson

 Hamza Robertson

English singer born January 1982. He accepted Islam in 2003 at the age of 21. He continued his music career, and has performed at various Muslim events.

#5. Mecca2Medina


British Islamic Hip hop Nasheed group founded in 1996. They released various albums since then including Life after death (their first album). The members include Ismael Lea South, Imran Kazi, Doaud Saifallah and Abdul Kareem Talib, all of whom converted to Islam save Kazi. He was born a Muslim. Mecce2Medina organizes several community events including talks with renowned Islamic scholars and Muslim comedy events.

#6. Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid bin Gharib bin Muhammad Alafasy

Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid bin Gharib bin Muhammad Alafasy

A renowned quranic reciter and nasheed artist. He was born in Kuwait on September 5, 1976. Mishary is the Imam of Grand Mosque (Kuwait), and owns two Space Channels specifically for Quranic recitation. Mishary also earned various awards including Arab Creativity Oscar.

#7. Native Deen

Native Deen

An Islamic musical group from Washington, comprising of Joshua Salaam, Maeem Muhammed and Abdul Malik Ahmed. They combine hip hop and R & B styles of music without using wind or string instruments. Native Deen performs at Islamic conferences, fundraisers and Islamic festivals. They are also engaged in Charity work.

#8. Nazeel Abdullah Azami

Nazeel Abdullah Azami

An English Nasheed singer and songwriter of Bangladeshi descent. He is signed by UMA Global. He earned a BSc in physics with Business Management, and PGCE from the University of Manchester. Azami has released an album and performed at numerous Islamic events.
