The month of Ramadan is blessed with a special night that is better than a thousand months. Good deeds performed on this night are better than those performed over a thousand months. This night is Laylatul Qadr, otherwise called the Night of Power or The Night of Decree.
The Night of Power or Decree is the night on which the final guidance to humans was revealed. The revelation on that night marks the commencement of the final message from Allah to mankind.
Muslims seek the night of Laylatul Qadr by staying up part of the night to pray and engage in the remembrance of Allah. Allah Ta’alla showers On the night of Layatul Qadr, Allah showers His special mercy towards the inhabitants of the earth, accepts their du’as (supplications) made by his servants and forgives those who repent sincerely.
Rasululah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Salam) said the following in a Hadith:
“Whosoever stood up in front of Allah the Almighty on the night of Qadr with Imaan (faith) and true conviction of attaining reward from Allah, in return, Allah will forgive all his previous sins”. (Al-Bukhaari , 2014)
Giving out charity, praying and engaging in other acts of kindness should be every Muslims’ routine on this special night. Worshiping Allah and doing acts of goodness on the night of Qadr will bring you closer to the Almighty Allah. This can lead to your forgiveness.
